EASTON, Pa. - The Lafayette men's lacrosse team was upended 16-6 by Lehigh on Saturday afternoon at Fisher Stadium. Prior to the game, Lafayette's senior class was honored on the field and recognized for its accomplishments over the last four years.

Seniors Will Heffernan, Doug Prusoff, Alex Floeck, Greg Allis, Paul Hammer, Bob FitzPatrick, Colin Serling and Rob Glascott made up the eight-member Class of 2012.

Lehigh (12-2, 5-1) controlled play from the start, scoring the first two goals and held an 8-1 advantage 21 minutes in. Dante Fantoni was responsible for three of Lehigh's first eight scores, and he assisted on two others.

With 4:03 remaining in the opening half, John Floyd netted his second goal of the game, the first of three straight Lafayette tallies. Allis then beat Lehigh goalie Matthew Poillon with 1:23 left before halftime to send the Leopards into the locker room trailing 8-3.

Fifty-six seconds into the second half, Sonny Round capped the mini-run to pull Lafayette within four, but Lehigh responded with five consecutive goals to put the contest out of reach at the end of the third quarter. Kevin Donovan scored the last four goals of the five-goal Lehigh stretch to put the Mountain Hawks ahead 13-4. Donovan finished with a game-high five goals.

Round's second and Brian Bock's goal made it 13-6 to start the fourth, but Lehigh put three more goals past Lafyette's Jake Hyatt to run the final score to 16-6. Bock extended his point-scoring streak to 13 games as the freshman contributed offensively in each game this season.

Statistically, the game was even as Lehigh held a slight edge in faceoffs, winning 13-of-25 and outshot Lafayette 45-36. The Maroon and White collected 34 ground balls, compared to Lehigh's 31. Lafayette also hit the post on eight of its shot attempts in the game.

Lafayette finishes the year at 3-10 overall and 1-5 in Patriot League play.
