LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell held a seven-point halftime lead and never looked back in a 66-51 victory over Lafayette on Saturday evening at Sojka Pavilion. A tough shooting night, paired with a minus-12 rebounding margin proved to be Leopards' downfall, as Mike Muscala deposited 27 points and grabbed 15 rebounds for the Bison.

Lafayette's lone player in double figures was Seth Hinrichs (12 points), who was 4-of-7 from the floor in the loss. Levi Giese led Lafayette (8-12, 1-2 Patriot) on the glass, grabbing a career-high eight rebounds. The senior also matched his career-high with three blocked shots and moved into a tie with Ted Cole '99 for fourth on Lafayette's all-time list with 82 for his career.

The Leopards went into intermission trailing 27-20 after being held to 27.6 percent (8-of-29) shooting in the period. On the other side, Bucknell (16-3, 3-0 Patriot) knocked down 11-of-30 attempts (36.7 percent) and were led by Muscala, who had 15 points and eight rebounds at the break. Each team struggled from the free throw line as well in the first 20 minutes, with Lafayette making 4-of-7 freebies and Bucknell going 5-for-10.

Bucknell opened the second half by scoring nine of the first 12 points and extended its lead to 36-23 by the first media timeout. The last two baskets of the stretch came from Joe Willman on a pair of jumpers.

Bucknell maintained its double-digit lead over the next eight minutes as the Leopards continued to struggle on the offensive end. Lafayette's first three of the contest came at 8:37 when Hinrichs ended a 0-for-8 drought from beyond the arc. The trey pulled Lafayette within 11 at 49-38, but four more from Muscala pushed the Bison cushion back to 15 points.

From there, Bucknell led by as many as 16 and held on for a comfortable 66-51 win. Lafayette finished the night 19-of-55, including 1-for-13 from beyond the arc. It was Lafayette's lowest shooting percentage (34.5) of the season, and the team one three-pointer was also a season-low.

Lafayette returns home to Kirby Sports Center on Jan. 23 when it hosts Holy Cross. Opening tip against the Crusaders is scheduled for 7 p.m.

Game Notes:

Lafayette set a season low with six turnovers

Tony Johnson's seven assists moved him into sole possession of eighth on Lafayette's all-time assists list, passing Brian Burke '08, Brian Ehlers '00 and Tim Bieg '01.
