Washington, D.C. - Lafayette dropped a 4-0 decision to Patriot League rival American in Washington D.C. Saturday. The Leopards fell to 1-2 in League play, while the Eagles improved to 3-0.

American took an early 1-0 lead nine minutes into the opening frame, when the Eagles Natalie Konerth found a loose ball in the circle and fired it into the Leopards cage. In the 16th minute American struck again. Jessica Deutsch made the initial save, but the rebound was hit into the goal by American's Shelly Montgomery.

With three minutes to play in the first half, American broke through for its third goal of the game. Montgomery tallied her second of the day, and the Leopards went into the break trailing, 3-0. American tacked on a fourth goal with ten minutes to play in the second half and went on to win, 4-0.

Deutsch made five saves for the Leopards in the loss, while Ashley Dalisera stopped five shots in the win. The Eagles outshot the Leopards, 14-7 and also held a 5-3 edge in penalty corners.
