EASTON, Pa. - Lafayette junior goalkeeper Jake Hyatt continued his stellar effort this season with 12 saves in Lafayette's 13-6 loss to visiting No. 18 Bucknell. The Bison used a 6-1 fourth quarter to pull away from the upset-minded Leopards on Saturday evening.

Bucknell improved to 6-1 overall and 2-0 in the Patriot League, while the Leopards dropped to 2-6 and 0-2 in the League.

Freshman Kevin Wanke led the Leopards with two goals, while classmate Morgan Westby and sophomore Sonny Round each chipped in with a goal and two assists. Freshman Mac Gallagher and senior Anthony Zawadzki both netted goals for the Leopards.

The Bison were led by Todd Heritage's five-goal effort and David Dickson's five assists. Sean Doyle scored two goals and had three helpers for Bucknell, while Thomas Flibotte and Brock Ghelfi netted three and two goals, respectively. Kyle Feeney made ten saves to earn his sixth win of the season.

Gallagher's first career goal gave the Leopards an early 1-0 lead, but the Bison netted four of the next five to finish the first quarter with a 4-2 lead. Zawadzki tallied the only other goal of the quarter for the Leopards.

Bucknell's Heritage scored two in the Bison's three-goal spurt to start the second quarter and the squad took a 7-2 lead with 5:08 to play in the half. Round cut into the lead with 4:10 remaining in the second and the Leopards went into the break down, 7-3.

A low-scoring third quarter got the Leopards back into the game, as Westby tallied his fifth goal of the season with 9:04 left, making it 7-4 in favor of the Bison. Wanke made it a two-goal game with 6:03 to go in the third quarter and the Leopards and Bison remained scoreless for the rest of period as Bucknell went into the final stanza with a two-goal advantage.

The Bison rattled off the first three goals of the final period to take a commanding 10-5 lead with 9:35 to play. Wanke netted his second goal of the game to slow the Bucknell run with 6:29 left, cutting the lead to 10-6, but the Bison answered right away with a goal less than twenty seconds later on Heritage's fourth score of the night.

Bucknell went on to score two more and outstood the Leopards with a 6-1 final-quarter edge to give the Bison a 13-6 victory.

Lafayette is back in action on Saturday afternoon when the Leopards travel to West Point, N.Y. to take on Army in a Patriot League contest at noon.
