WEST POINT, N.Y. - Lafayette freshman goalkeeper Ben Falcone made double-digit saves in his collegiate debut but Army proved to be too much for the Lafayette men's lacrosse team in West Point, N.Y. on Saturday afternoon. The Leopards fell to the Black Knights, 15-6, to move to 2-7 on the year and 0-3 in League play.

With stellar sophomore goalkeeper Jake Hyatt out due to an illness, Falcone stepped in and made 10 saves, giving up 15 goals in all 60 minutes of play.

Sophomore attack Sonny Round led the Leopards' offense with two scores, while junior Mike Galione, sophomore Cory Scheuerle, freshman Brendan Dunlap and junior Mac Ahsler each notched one apiece. For Army, Garrett Thul posted six goals on the day and John Glesener chipped in with four goals and three assists.

Army outshot Lafayette, 47-24, and held a 43-35 edge in ground balls. The Black Knights won 14 of the 26 faceoffs and forced Lafayette into 26 turnovers.

Army got on the board first with two scores 19 seconds apart in the opening three minutes to put the Black Knights up, 2-0. Round netted one with 4:13 to play in the first, but Thul put one past Falcone on a feed from Connor Cook to give Army the 3-1 advantage at the end of the first and start a game-changing run.

The second quarter was all Army as it shut out the Leopards, ending the first half on a 6-0 run to go into the halftime break leading, 8-1.

Round's goal at the 12:10 mark of the third quarter finally ended Army's streak, but did not shift momentum as a Thul tally less than two minutes later made the score, 9-2.

The Black Knights' lead never got smaller than six for the rest of the contest as Army cruised to the victory, 15-6.

Next up for the Leopards is a trip to High Point, N.C. to take on the High Point Panthers on Wednesday evening at 7 p.m.
