EASTON, Pa. - Seton Hall took advantage of three runs in the fourth inning and eventually defeated Lafayette 11-2 on Tuesday afternoon at Kamine Stadium. Senior Andrew Ruck paced the Leopards with two hits on the afternoon.

The visitors (9-12) threatened in the top of the first inning with a leadoff triple by Zack Granite, but starting pitcher Derek Gussaroff escaped the inning with help defensively from right fielder Alex Nickles. Two-hole hitter Scott Kalamar lifted a fly ball into right field, where Nickles caught it and rifled a strike home to Tim Lazor, who applied the tag on the tagging Granite from third. Gussaroff then retired the side with a strikeout.

Following a 1-2-3 inning for Lafayette (3-18) in the first, Seton Hall put two on the board with a triple to right by Mike Genovese, scoring Sal Annunziata (3-for-5, 3 runs) who singled in the previous at bat. Genovese ended up scoring on a double play later in the inning and the Pirates led 2-0.

Each team scratched out a run in its respective half innings, prior to Seton Hall using three pitchers to get through a scoreless bottom of the third frame. Delpine earned the first two outs after plunking Andrew Landolfi, who advanced to second on a balk before a lineout to right by Andrew Santomauro turned into a double play when Landolfi was caught off second. Dan Ditusa came out of the bullpen and was greeted with a single by Ruck and walked the next two hitters to load the bases. Ditusa was then replaced with a 1-0 count to Scott Kelleher, who was sent down swinging by Luke Cahill.

The Pirates pushed across three unearned runs in the fourth and a single tally in the top of the fifth to extend their lead to 7-1 at that point. Three straight hits with one out, Santomauro's double, Ruck's single and Kevin Casey's RBI base hit through the hole on the right side made it 7-2 in favor of Seton Hall. A strikeout and a walk to Kelleher loaded the bases for Campbell Lipe, but his line drive to first was snared out of the air by a leaping Annunziata to end the threat.

Seton Hall added two in the seventh and two more in the ninth to eventually come away with the 11-2 victory.

The Leopards are back at it tomorrow afternoon when they host Penn in the Liberty Bell Classic. First pitch is set for 3:30 p.m.
