PRINCETON, N.J. -Four Lafayette track athletes were invited to compete in the annual Larry Ellis Invitational in Princeton, N.J. on Friday afternoon.

Freshman Stephanie Benko had the Leopard's top performance on the day. The New Canaan, Conn. native snagged 15th place in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 10:57.41. Teammate Rose Willey finished in 21st place in the same event with a time of 11:08.55.

Chris Parker placed 24th out of 50 runners in the 800m run. The senior finished with a time of 1:53.08.

Rounding out the Leopards competing in the invitational was Will Volkmann. The senior placed 32nd out of 99 runners in the 5000m. He finished with a time of 14:42.44.

Lafayette had a very strong showing at the Greyhound Invitational at Moravian College on Friday and Saturday.

The Leopards had four runners finish in the top five in the men's 400m hurdles. Ryan McVeigh had the top finish, coming in second place with a time of 54.69 in the finals. Bill Leonard (3rd place, 54.99), Tim Shaw (4th place, 55.68), and Neil Franzese(5th place, 56.01) were the other Leopards to grab the top spots.

In the 110m hurdles, Nick Orzol ran 15.36 in the finals, good for fourth place. Orzol also placed fifth in the triple jump with a distance of 45' 6.5". Teammate Jarrel Bobbfinished seventh in the triple jump with a leap of 45' 4.5".

Junior Derrick Hargwoodgrabbed third in the 800m finals with a time of 1:57.44.

Rounding out the track events were the relays. The 4x100m team recorded a time of 42.57, good for second place, while the 4x400m team grabbed the top spot in a time of 3:18.55.

The women had many top finishes as well. Freshman Devin Smithran for another first place finish in the 200m. She finished with a time of 26.10 in the finals.

Sophomore Haley Langton placed third in the 400m run, and posted a time of 57.78. Teammate Megan Matuskygrabbed ninth in the same event with a time of 59.40.

Elizabeth Triosi posted her best finish of the outdoor season with her second place performance in the 5000m. The junior distance runner posted a time of 18:13.74 in the finals. Simran Bainsplaced sixteenth in the race with a time of 18:58.93.

The women's relay teams posted top finishes as well. The 4x100m relay team took the top spot with a time of 48.38 in the finals. The 4x400m team finished second with a 3:58.84 performance.

The field athletes also continued to post top finishes, as they have been doing all season. Elise Buffinton, following a record-setting indoor season, placed second in the pole vault with a height of 11' 7.75".

Brittany Powellalso registered a second place performance, and leaped 17' in the long jump event.

Sarah Talmadge grabbed first place in the shot put with a throw of 40' 2". Fellow throwers Gwen Steckel (discus, 135' 1") placed third and Rachel Pena(hammer throw, 184' 1") placed first.

Next up for the Leopards is the Penn Relays, which will take place in Philadelphia on Thursda,y April 25 and Friday, April 26. Action is scheduled to start at 10 a.m. on Thursday.
