EASTON, Pa. - The Lafayette track and field team hosted Lehigh in the annual Lafayette-Lehigh Dual meet on a windy Saturday afternoon at the Metzgar Fields Athletic Complex. The men edged the Mountain Hawks 102-101, while the women fell 107-96.

The men's squad used a team-wide consistent effort en route to the victory. In the field, Jarrel Bobb jumped to a first place finish in the long jump reaching a distance of 6.93 meters (22'9") before using a 13.97-meter (45'10") bound to nab second place in the triple jump. Senior thrower Mac Maguire tossed a pair of runner-up finishes in the shot put (13.80 meters, 45'3 ½") and discus (41.25 meters, 135' 4"). Chris Luna's 59.32 meters (194' 7") launch of the javelin garnered him a first place finish. Colton Mitchell (4.25 meters, 13' 11 ¼") and Brendan Harney (3.95 meters, 12' 11 ½") flew to a second and third place finish, respectively, in the pole vault.

On the oval, Bobb rounded out a Leopard trifecta with a 22.30 finish in the 200-meter dash. Michael Smitelli topped the field with a 22.28 finish with David Robinson just .01 seconds behind at 22.29. That wasn't the only close finish for Smitelli and Robinson. In the 100-meter dash, the duo would race to a photo finish with Lehigh's Martin Otieno. Robinson bested the three by just .02 seconds at 10.71, Otieno needed a time down to the thousandth of a second to earn second place at 10.725, barely edging Smitelli's 10.730. Keeping with the sprints, Tim Shaw ran to a first place, 15.26 finish in the 110 meter hurdles with Matt Wilichowski placing in third at 16.04. Shaw returned in the 400-meter hurdles, again taking the top spot with a time of 57.76. Neil Franzese served as the runner-up with a 57.94. Thomas Day conquered a cold 3000-meter steeplechase with a 9:48.83 finish.

For the women, Erin Keen and Devin Smith set the pace on the track with Keen (12.24 in the 100 meter dash, 25.42 in the 200 meter dash) sprinting to a pair of second place finishes to complement Smith's pair of wins (25.18 in the 200 meter dash, 59.13 in the 400 meter dash). Grace Watters brought home a second-place finish when she crossed the finish line a 4:54.72 in the 800-meter run. Stephanie Benko and Rose Willey ran hip-to-hip in the 3000-meter steeplechase; Benko narrowly took first at 11:25.76 with Willey coming in at 11:25.78. Benko went on to the 5000-meter run, taking second place at 18:44.90. Tessa Broholm hurdled to a 1:07.47 finish in the 400-meter hurdles, good for second place.

Off the track Rachel Pena threw herself to a pair of victories; first a 12.39 (40' 7 ¾") heave of the shot put, followed by a 59.90 meter (196'6") toss of the hammer. Allyx Hunsberger's 39.70 meter (130'3") javelin throw added another winning performance for the Leopards. Elise Buffinton vaulted to a height of 3.65 meters (11' 11 ¾") to take the pole vault.

The Maroon and White return to action when they travel to Lawrenceville, N.J. to take part in the Rider Invitational on April 12.
