VESTAL, N.Y. - A deflection from senior Greg Biggiani found the back of the net in the 63rd minute to give the Lafayette men's soccer team a much-needed 1-0 victory over Binghamton on Saturday evening in Vestal, N.Y.
Following a scoreless opening half that featured six shots from each side, the Maroon and White worked their way into the Binghamton zone with less than 30 minutes remaining in the contest.
Freshman Christian Moyse, who has been used in long-throw situations this season, threw a great ball into the box that found Biggiani, who was able to redirect it on goal and past Binghamton goalkeeper Stefan Frantellizzi for the lone goal of the game.
Binghamton led the way in shots, 11-9, while Lafayette worked eight corner-kick opportunities compared to six for the Bearcats. Freshman Daniel Felman led the Lafayette attack with three shots and Binghamton's Tommy Moon led all offensive threats with five shots on the night.
Senior Sandy Leavy was excellent, working his third clean sheet of the year with seven saves for the game, while Frantellizzi allowed the only goal and made two saves for his fifth loss of the season.
The Leopards finish up their three-game road swing on Tuesday evening, traveling to Albany at 7 p.m.
