CENTER VALLEY, Pa. -- Lafayette junior Michael Coniglio has been named the Patriot League Baseball Player of the Week, while freshman Steven Cohen has been tabbed as the Rookie of the Week, it was announced by the league office on Monday.

Coniglio had a huge series against Army by going 9-for-15 (.600) with six runs scored and four RBIs to lead the Leopards to a four-game sweep of the Black Knights. He had at least two hits in each of the four games, and also had an RBI or run scored in each contest. The outfielder from Ridgewood, N.J., went 4-for-8 with two runs scored and two RBIs in Saturday's sweep, and finished 5-for-7 with two triples, four runs scored and two RBIs in Sunday's contests. He went 3-for-4 with three runs in an 8-7 win in Sunday's opener. Coniglio went 10-for-20 (.500) in five games overall last week and raised his season batting average from .129 to .275.

Cohen had a pair of strong games against Army to help Lafayette to its first four-game sweep of a Patriot League series since 2007. He went 2-for-5 with a pair of doubles, a run scored and three RBIs in a 12-3 victory in Saturday's nightcap before leading the Leopards to an 8-7 win in Sunday's opener with a pair of home runs and three RBIs in the contest. He led off the bottom of the first with a home run and hit a two-run shot in the fourth to tie the game at 4-4 as part of a four-run inning that put the Leopards in front for good. Cohen is named the Rookie of the Week for the second time this season.

Sophomore David Bednar got his third honorable mention nod in the pitching category after giving up two runs on four hits and two walks with seven strikeouts over 6.1 innings in Lafayette's 4-2 win over Army in Saturday's series opener.

The Leopards are scheduled to return to action on Tuesday against St. Joseph's at Kamine Stadium, with first pitch set for 3:30 p.m.
