In a message to the campus community, Lafayette President Alison Byerly said:
The outpouring of support over the last several days from friends, teammates, fellow student-athletes, coaches, faculty, staff, and other members of the Lafayette community is a testament to how greatly Brian will be missed.
We extend deepest condolences to Brian's parents, Mark and Susan Keller, his brother, Alex, and his sisters, Amy and Emily. A campus commemoration of Brian's life will be held after students return for the fall semester.
On the field, Keller was coming off a 2014 season in which he started seven of 11 games. He made 24 catches for 320 yards and three touchdowns with at least one catch in every game. Keller had two receptions and helped push the Leopard offense to 309 rushing yards in a 27-7 victory over archrival Lehigh in Yankee Stadium in his final game. In total, Keller played 21 games during his career, including nine during the 2013 Patriot League championship season.
Away from the field, Keller was a mechanical engineering major who achieved a 3.33 GPA during the 2014 fall semester, earning him a place on the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll.
