EASTON, Pa. - Andrew Rutherfurd ’94 has been selected to the Patriot League Men’s Swimming and Diving 25th Anniversary Team it was announced on Wednesday.
Rutherfurd made an instant impact at Lafayette and in the Patriot League when he won the League’s first Swimmer of the Meet award as a freshman at the inaugural League Championship in 1991. Rutherfurd competed in the 100 breast at the 1991 NCAA Championships with a 22nd-place finish.
He added another award as the Co-Swimmer of the Meet as a sophomore when he also earned All-America status for finishing in fourth place in the 100 breast at the NCAA Championships in 1992. At the time, that performance gave Lafayette the distinction of being the smallest school in the nation ever to have scored at the meet.
He went on to compete for Hong Kong in the Olympic Games in Barcelona in 1992.
Previously, Rutherfurd was named to the Patriot League All-Decade Team in 2000.
