CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - Lafayette senior outfielder Michael Coniglio has been selected as the Patriot League Player of the Week after registering multi-hit games in five of the Leopards' seven contests over the past seven days.
Coniglio ended the week with a .406 batting average (13-of-32), eight runs scored, four stolen bases and four RBIs. He struck out only one time in 33 plate appearances and did not commit an error in the field. Two of Coniglio's four RBIs came on a walk-off double in extra innings during Lafayette's 5-4 comeback victory over Penn on Sunday, while he additionally registered three of his four steals in the four-game set against the Quakers.
The Ridgewood, N.J., native leads the Patriot League in stolen bases on the season, going a perfect 11-for-11 on the basepaths, and he paces the Leopards with 18 runs scored and nine walks. This is the second time that Coniglio has received Player of the Week accolades during his time on College Hill. He was also recognized on April 6 last season.
Lafayette is back in action at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, hosting St. Joseph's as part of the Liberty Bell Classic. The Leopards then travel to Army West Point this weekend to get the Patriot League schedule underway. Starting times for Saturday and Sunday's doubleheaders, originally set for 12 p.m., have been pushed back an hour to 1 p.m.
