Will Dobil has been selected as Patriot League Baseball Rookie of the Week, announced on Monday afternoon.
Dobil batted .600 with nine hits, while slugging .800 during the week. The Orefield, Pa. native had five RBIs along with scoring five runs in four games. The Economics major hit three doubles and drove in the go-ahead run in the seventh inning of Lafayette's 7-6 win against Holy Cross on Sunday. Dobil ignited the Leopards' offense in their three-game weekend series sweep of Holy Cross.The freshman is batting .279 on the year and .344 in conference play, recording 15 hits, 10 RBIs, four doubles, a triple and scoring 10 runs.
Junior
Tristan Helmick was selected as an honorable mention for his play during the Leopards' series versus Holy Cross. Helmick pitched 7.1 innings in the opening game against the Crusaders, earning his second win of the season and recording eight strikeouts.
Lafayette continues its season on Tuesday at 3:25 p.m., when it travels to Villanova for a Liberty Bell Classic game.
