Reed Passes Way to Patriot League Weekly Honors

Sept. 5, 2016

EASTON, Pa. – Senior quarterback Drew Reed (Lakeland, Tenn./Arlington) has been named the Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week it was announced on Monday.

Reed earned the first offensive honor of the season after completing 31-of-42 passes (both career highs) for 316 yards and all three of Lafayette's touchdowns in a 24-10 victory at Central Connecticut State on Friday. His 74 percent night did not include an interception. Reed led two fourth-quarter scoring drives, connecting with junior wide receiver Matt Mrazek for all three of the touchdowns (18, 21, 15 yards).

The Tennessee native hit eight different targets in the season-opening victory, leading to the third 300-plus yard performance of his career. It also marked the third time he was named Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week, as he was selected twice in his rookie season of 2013 while also garnering three Patriot League Rookie of the Week nods. Reed was the first Patriot League football player to be named Patriot League Rookie of the Week and Offensive Player of the Week in the same week (achieving it twice).

At Central Connecticut, Reed became the sixth player in Lafayette football history to throw for more than 5,000 yards, ascending to 5,233 career yards Reed has 475 career completions and needs three more to climb to fourth place and pass Frank Novak '84 (478).

Lafayette opens up its 2016 home slate on Saturday, hosting Delaware at 6 p.m.
