- Lafayette carries momentum into another back-to-back weekend of action on the road at Boston U. and against Bryant at Brown. The Leopards enter the weekend at 5-5 overall and still unbeaten in Patriot League play with a 2-0 mark.
- The Leopards are coming off the program's first win over a ranked program since 2016, knocking off No. 25 Monmouth in double overtime on Sunday by a 2-1 score. Senior captain
Lisa van der Geest set up sophomore
Molly McAndrew, the reigning Patriot League Rookie of the Year, for the game-winning tally with less than four minutes to play in the second extra session.
- McAndrew has followed up a stellar rookie campaign with another productive sophomore season, leading the Leopards in scoring with nine points on four goals and an assist this season. Senior
Sam Di Maio has also been opportunistic up front, tied for the team lead with four scores this fall. Â
- The Lafayette defensive unit hit its stride this past weekend, surrendering just one goal in two victories over Colgate and Monmouth. The Leopards have yet to give up a goal in league play this season with 8-0 and 4-0 wins over Holy Cross and Colgate, respectively, and held Monmouth, a team that averages more than 3.3 goals per outing, to just one score in Sunday's win. The defense is anchored by senior
Sarah Park in the cage and van der Geest, while a pair of freshmen patrol the flanks in
Simone Hefting and
Sydney Woolston.
- Saturday's contest is a rematch of last year's Patriot League semifinal, a game the Leopards narrowly lost by a 2-1 score in Boston. After going down 1-0 early,
Caroline Turnbull found the equalizer in the 25th minute and
Hailey Abbott subbed on and saved a penalty stroke in the 30th minute to keep the Leopards in it. Unfortunately, the Terriers' Petra Hall beat Park in the 64th minute for the game-winner to end Lafayette's 2018 campaign.
