* Lafayette field hockey bids for its first Patriot League championship since 2012 on Sunday afternoon when it battles top-seeded American in the title game in Washington, D.C. at noon.

* The Leopards are looking for revenge against the only conference opponent that knocked them off during the regular season, just a week ago, in the regular-season championship tilt. The Eagles' eighth-minute goal stood up as the only score between the two sides in that contest as American took the regular-season crown and the right to host this weekend's contests.

* The last appearance in a title game for the Maroon and White came in back-to-back seasons in 2011 and 2012, both resulting in trophies for the Leopards. Lafayette's consecutive postseason appearances in 2018 and 2019 are the first for the program since making the tournament three straight years from 2011-13.

* Junior Audrey Sawers was the hero of the semifinal round for the Lafayette as her goal in the 53rd minute advanced the Leopards to Sunday's final. Sawers worked with her back to the cage on a defender off a corner opportunity in a scoreless game, and eventually turned and fired a shot off the goalkeeper's stick and into the far left corner for the lone score in a 1-0 victory over Bucknell.

* Prior to Friday's contest, senior captain Lisa van der Geest was officially honored by the Patriot League, receiving her hardware as the league's Defensive Player of the Year and Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Additionally, head coach Jennifer Stone was officially awarded the Patriot League Coach of the Year trophy during the presentation.
