Leopards Hit the Road for Second Meeting with Bucknell

Lafayette travels across to commonwealth to take on the Bison

Opening Tip
- The Leopards and Bison meet up for the second time this season, each coming off a week of rest with no midweek game for either this week.

- Last time out, Lafayette took a lead into the fourth quarter at Holy Cross and was pushed to overtime, where the Leopards dropped an extra-session contest for the first time this season.

- Sophomore Natalie Kucowski scored 22 points with 13 rebounds and hit the game-tying jumper to force overtime. It was the 19th double-double of her career and 10th of the season. She is the first Leopard to have a double-digit double-double season since 2011-12.

- Lafayette has played in three overtime games this season, the most since the 2012-13 campaign.

- Lafayette ends its two-game road trip and begins a two-game homestand when Army visits College Hill and Loyola is in town for the Play4Kay game.

Scouting Bucknell
Bucknell features the Patriot League's highest scoring offense at 70.9 ppg and sits atop the conference rankings.

The Bison haven't lost since their second league game, holding a 9-1 record in the conference.

Kaitlyn Slagus is ranked fifth in the Patriot League in scoring at 13.6 ppg and pulls in 7.6 rpg, ranking inside the top 10.

Slagus is also the conference's most-efficient scorer, shooting 59 percent from the field.

In his seventh season, Bucknell is led by head coach Aaron Roussell.

All-Time Series
The matchup dates back to the 1976-77 season with the Bucknell holding a 44-38 advantage overall.

The Bison have won the last nine meetings.

Last Meeting
In a defensive battle at Kirby Sports Center, the Bison were able to use a strong third quarter to hang on in the season's first meeting.

Natalie Kucowski led the Leopards with a double-double, scoring 18 and grabbing 14 boards while Drew Freeland was also in double-figures with 12.

Slagus poured in 20 points while Taylor O'Brien came off the bench to score 13.

Bucknell connected on four 3-pointers in just the fourth quarter to pull away down the stretch.

Double-Digit Double-Doubles
Sophomore Natalie Kucowski recorded her 10th double-double of the season last time out against Holy Cross. She is the first Leopard to have double-digit double-doubles since Danielle Fiacco tallied 10 in 2011-12.

Overtime Triumphs
This is the first time since the 2008-09 campaign that Lafayette has won multiple overtime contests in the same season. The Leopards won their first overtime game since the 2012-13 season, outlasting Albany in double overtime on Dec. 1. They followed that up with another comeback win against Monmouth in extra time.

However, Lafayette lost in overtime for the first time this season at Holy Cross on Feb. 2. This is the most overtime games Lafayette has played since 2012-13 when they went 1-2 in those contests.

A Fast Start
The Leopards have held a lead or have been tied at the half in their last four games. They have only held a lead at the break in eight games this season.

Block Party
Kucowski leads the Patriot League in total blocked shots (47) and blocked shots per game (2.2) by nearly 10 and 1.0 respectively. She has tallied 10 blocks in her last two games.

She has recorded at least one block in all but one game this season and has put together 12 multi-block contests, including performances of six and five rejections.

50 Rebound Games
Lafayette has pulled in 50-plus rebounds four times this season after doing so zero times in 2017-18. The last time a Lafayette team has had multi 50-plus rebounding games was in the 2013-14 season when it occurred seven times. Before this season, the last time the Leopards had a 50-plus rebound game was the opener of the 2016-17 season at La Salle.

Getting Over the Hump
The Leopards hold a 5-1 record when scoring at least 60 points this season compared to their 2-13 mark when scoring under 60 points. Lafayette is also 2-0 when scoring over 70 points, doing so once in regulation and once in overtime this season.

Classroom Success
The 2017-18 Leopards ranked No. 14 among Division I women's basketball programs for team GPA. Lafayette compiled a team GPA of 3.538 last season and were 1-of-2 Patriot League institutions to rank inside the top-25.

A Long Distance Battle
Sophomore Olivia Martino connected on a pair of 3-pointers against BU to move into sole possession of 14th on the all-time Lafayette 3-point field goals list with 57 in her career. Teammate Drew Freeland sits in a tie for 15th with Ashley Lutz '17 who hit 56 3-pointers in her career.

Efficiency Too
Along with climbing the 3-point field goals chart, Freeland and Martino would rank No. 1 and 2, respectively, on the all-time 3-point field goal percentage list. Freeland is shooting 38 percent from beyond the arc in her career and Martino is a 36 percent career shooter from deep.

The current No. 1 is Anna Ptasinski '18 who shot 39 percent a season ago. In her career, she shot 36 percent and hit 159, ranking third in program history.

Short Staffed
Dropping three straight games with fourth quarter leads is a tough pill to swallow, but a series of illnesses have plagued the Leopards in the backend of January. Senior Alex Cantwell played through illness at American while Lafayette was without junior Tasha Vipond and freshman Jiselle Havas for the BU game. Vipond also was unavailable at Holy Cross on Feb. 2.

Rookie Rebounds
Freshman Makaila Wilson ranks third among Patriot League freshmen with 5.9 rebounds per contest. Last time out, she pulled in seven and has recorded eight-plus boards in seven games this season.

Reinforcements Are Coming
Lafayette women's basketball head coach Kia Damon-Olson announced the program has signed three student-athletes to its class of 2023 as part of National Signing Day on Wednesday.

This is the second class to be signed under the current coaching staff and in their two seasons with the Leopards, freshmen have been a big part of the success on the floor.

Jess Booth comes from Owings Mills, Maryland where she plays for the McDonogh School. The 5-8 guard averaged 12 points a game in 2017-18 to go along with four assists and three rebounds per contest. She was named to the all-conference first team as a junior.

Reilly Campbell is a 6-2 forward from Wallingford, Connecticut. She played basketball at Lyman Hall High School in 2015-16 where she was a varsity starter and a Record Journal All-Area team member while garnering an All-State honorable mention as a high school freshman.

The third member of the class is Shanell Haskins from Bowie, Maryland. The 5-9 guard plays for Capital Christian Academy and is a team captain. The team claimed the NACA championship her freshman season and she has been named a McDonald's All-American nominee.
