EASTON, Pa. -- Lafayette Director of Athletics Sherryta Freeman restructured the organizational framework of the department of athletics in her first year at Lafayette.
Â
Freeman, who took over as the school's 11th athletic director in Feb. 2018, assembled a senior leadership team comprised of Kaitlyn McKittrick, Deputy Director of Athletics, Andrew Foster, Associate Director of Athletics for Facilities and Operations and Scott Morse, Senior Director of Communications for Campus Life and Athletics.
Â
"What makes Lafayette special is the people. We may not have an abundance of staff, but what we have are people that are willing to go the extra mile," Freeman said. "Certainly, the expansion of the management team was done with intention. One thing it does is expand the group and add diversity of thought. It also provides professional growth opportunities for our staff members."
Â
In addition, Freeman formed a management teams that adds Josh Azer (Director of Athletic Development), Matt Bayly (Director of Sports Medicine), David Blasic (Athletic Business Manager), Arif Kapasi (Asst. Director of Compliance), Philip LaBella (Director of Athletic Communications), Brian Ludrof (Director of Creative Media), Anthony Martin (Director of Equipment Services), Brad Potts (Assistant Director of Athletics for Peak Performance & Head Strength and Conditioning Coach), Carly Riepenhoff (Coordinator of Student-Athlete Support) and Elizabeth Wieller (Ticket Manager) to the senior leadership team.
Â
McKittrick's role, which had been internally facing, has been re-shaped in an external capacity, as she now serves as the athletic departmental liaison to communications and development while also handling oversight of ticketing and eventually advertising/sponsorships. Gaining additional internal responsibilities are Riepenhoff, who has assumed oversight of SAAC and the Oaks Leadership Academy, and Foster, who will serve as an admissions liaison and oversee disciplinary matters.
Â
Sport administrator responsibilities also have been shifted under the reorganization with McKittrick (men's basketball, women's basketball, football, men's lacrosse, women's lacrosse, women's soccer, softball, golf) and Foster (cross country, track & field, baseball, men's soccer, volleyball, field hockey, fencing, swimming & diving, tennis) splitting the duties for the 23 varsity sports.
Â
"The leadership team creates a core unit to assist with moving key strategies along," Freeman explained. "These moves are timely as they relate to the evolution of the athletic strategic plan, allowing for greater communication and broader participation. It's working. People feel more invested."
