EASTON, Pa. — Seniors Andrew Chuma, Trent Crossan, Will Eisler, Logan Grieser and Kevin Zataveski have earned places on the National Football Foundation Hampshire Honor Society.
Nominees must maintain a cumulative 3.2 GPA or better throughout their college careers.
The 2019 NFF Hampshire Honor Society is comprised of an all-time high 1,678 players from 430 schools at the NCAA FBS, FCS, Division II, Division III and NAIA levels.
Chuma and Crossan add the honor to a laundry list of achievements that includes Google Cloud Academic All-America honors, FCS ADA Academic All-Star laurels and Academic All-Patriot League status.
Chuma, who holds a 3.95 GPA while majoring in Economics with a minor in Finance, played in 11 games in 2018 with five starts, making 32 tackles with 5.5 tackles for loss and three sacks. A Ridgefield, Connecticut native, he was named a semifinalist for the National Football Foundation and College Football Hall of Fame's William V. Campbell Trophy which is presented annually to the nation's top football scholar-athlete.
Crossan, who maintains a 3.87 GPA while studying Economics, started 10 games at safety in 2018, racking up 50 tackles with an interception. A native of Shoreham, New York, the team captain managed double-digit tackles against Delaware (11) and Holy Cross (10).
Eisler is a two-time All-Patriot League first-team selection at fullback. The senior from Scarsdale, New York is a double major in Economics and Spanish and holds a 3.32 GPA. He was a receiving target out of the backfield, catching nine balls for 52 yards and a touchdown, and was a key run blocker and pass protector.
Zataveski joins Crossan as a fellow captain on the Hampshire Honor Society list. He was an All-Patriot League Second-Team selection in his senior campaign, starting the final eight games of the season after recovering from injury. The Leopards doubled their rushing total per game when the Delran, New Jersey resident was in the lineup (101.6) compared to the three games he missed (49.0). A Mathematics-Economics major, Zataveski maintains a 3.39 GPA.
Zataveski's line mate, Logan Grieser, played in eight games with seven starts in his final season, seeing time in 21 games over his career. A native of Arlington, Ohio he holds a 3.21 GPA while majoring in Economics.
