BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Will Halamandaris, a junior on the Lafayette men's golf team, joined his teammates and coaches at the Steel Club on Wednesday night for the big reveal -- the announcement of team and individual placement for the 2019 NCAA Division I Men's Golf Regionals on May 13-15.

As the individual Patriot League champion, Halamandaris was guaranteed a spot at one of six regional sites along with 81 teams and 44 other individual golfers. The regional sites are located in Pullman, Wash., Stanford, Calif., Murrells Inlet, S.C., Athens, Ga. and Austin, Texas. When the individuals were finally announced near the end of a one-hour show on Golf Channel, the Crownsville, Md. native learned that he would join 13 teams and nine other individuals at the par-71 University of Georgia Golf Course.

"Any of those places would have been amazing," said Halamandaris, following the celebration at the Beam Yard dining room at the Steel Club. "Going to any of them is great but probably my two favorites were Georgia or Texas. I played in the state of Georgia a few times when I was younger - in junior tournaments - but I haven't been down there in a while."

In addition to region host University of Georgia, the field also includes a pair of Saragin-rated top-10 teams in Vanderbilt (5) and Duke (6). The top five teams from each regional and the low individual not on those teams advances to the NCAA Championship at Blessings Golf Club in Fayetteville, Ark., May 24-29. Patriot League team champion Army West Point was placed in the Austin regional.

"First and foremost, I just want to have a good time," Halmandaris told the Lafayette Sports Network. "It is an honor to be out there at regionals with alot of great players. If I just go out there and have fun and enjoy myself, I feel like I will play great."
