EASTON, Pa. – Lafayette field hockey head coach
Jennifer Stone announced the addition of
Scott Tupper as the program's top assistant coach on Tuesday afternoon.
Â
Tupper comes to College Hill bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience as a member of Canada's Senior National Team since 2005, playing in 312 games in his career. He has appeared in two Olympic Games (2008 and 2016), two World Cup tournaments (2010 and 2018), four Pan American Games (2007, 2011, 2015, and 2019), three Pan American Cups (2009, 2013, and 2017) and three Commonwealth Games (2010, 2014, and 2018). Since 2012, he has served as Canada's team captain.Â
Â
"I'm incredibly excited to announce the addition of
Scott Tupper to our coaching staff," Stone said. "Scott is world class, and I have no doubt that he will have an immediate impact on the development of our players, program and the Athletic Department. His experience at the international level is exceptional, but beyond that, his strength in character is a perfect match for our program and its future goals. We're incredibly fortunate to be able to welcome Scott to College Hill, and can't wait to get started."
Â
Individually, Tupper led Canada in goals in the 2016 Olympics with five and earned six consecutive Pan American All-Star selections. He also played five seasons with European clubs Der Club and der Alster of Germany (two seasons), Royal Racing Brussels of Belgium (two seasons), and Schaerweijde of Holland (one season).
Â
Over the last five years, Tupper has served as the Head of Programming and Recruiting and on-field coach for the Rob Short Coaching Academy of Vancouver, Canada. He also has been the domestic trainer and coach for Canada's U21 Men's National Team for the last three years.
Â
"I'm excited and thankful for the opportunity to join the Lafayette Field Hockey program and help build on the great work that's already been done by Coach Stone," Tupper said. "I'm looking forward to working with Lafayette's student-athletes, the broader Leopard athletic department and within the Lafayette community. Lafayette College is a great place for me to start my NCAA coaching career, and I can't wait to get started and help the program achieve continued success in both the Patriot League and the NCAA."
Â
Tupper joins a Leopard program that is coming off back-to-back Patriot League Tournament appearances, including a trip to the title game this past fall.
