Hamm and Young Secure PL Honors

Leopards are coming off 24-23 win at Georgetown

EASTON, Pa. -- Senior defensive lineman Malik Hamm and junior wide receiver Julius Young have earned Patriot League Defensive and Offensive Player of the Week honors, respectively.
 
Hamm led the team with eight tackles in the Leopards' 24-23 win over Georgetown on Oct. 30. The Baltimore native contributed 2.5 sacks to the defense which limited Georgetown to 77 rushing yards and just six points in the final three quarters of the game.  
 
Hamm is a three-time All-Patriot League selection who was also the conference's Rookie of the Year in 2018 and its Defensive Player of the Year in 2019. The Psychology major is third on the team in tackles (48) and leads the squad with 12 quarterback hurries.
 
On the other side of the ball, Young enjoyed a career-day, helping the Leopards rally from a 17-0 deficit. He connected with freshman QB Ah-Shaun Davis for nine catches, 150 yards and a touchdown. He had receptions of 47, 34 and 23 yards on the afternoon, with the 47-yard TD capping an eight-play, 90-yard drive over five minutes.
 
Young leads the team with 36 catches for 583 yards and three touchdowns. The Economics major is averaging 16.2 yards per catch and 72.9 receiving yards per game.
 
Lafayette (3-5, 2-1) remains in the Patriot League title hunt and will travel to Massachusetts on Saturday to face two-time defending champ Holy Cross at 12:30 p.m.
