EASTON, Pa. - Lafayette field hockey head coach
Jennifer Stone announced the addition of
Jenny Rizzo to her coaching staff as the program's second assistant coach on Wednesday afternoon.
Rizzo was a standout player at Penn State from 2015-19, winning a Big Ten Tournament Championship in 2016 and leading her squad to a 12-6 record and an NCAA Tournament appearance as a senior captain in 2018, earning First-Team All-Big Ten honors. Following graduation, she played professionally at Nottingham Trent University in Nottingham, U.K. and Beeston Hockey Club in Beeston, U.K., leading Beeston to the club's first-ever Ladies Championship.
"I am very grateful and excited for the opportunity to start my collegiate coaching career at Lafayette College," Rizzo said. "This opportunity is extremely special, and I am eager to learn, grow and develop as a coach, alongside
Jennifer Stone and
Scott Tupper. I am looking forward to using my experience competing as a goalkeeper both in the NCAA and abroad to help mentor the LCFH student-athletes to be the best that they can be on the field and in the classroom. I can't wait to get started and grow on the program's success within the Patriot League and the NCAA."
Since 2019, Rizzo has served under multiple coaching roles with the USA National Futures Program in State College, Pa., Penn State and Davidson in Davidson, N.C. During the 2019-20 season at Davidson, she was the Volunteer Assistant Coach, charged with technical and tactical development for the team's goalkeepers, as well as leading training sessions for goalkeepers and the defensive unit.

"Jenny is a passionate young coach, and has a bright future ahead of her in all aspects of our sport. Her playing and coaching experience both internationally and on the NCAA level will be incredible valuable to our student-athletes, and in particular to our goalkeeping unit. I'm looking forward to what the future holds for our group as we prepare for spring compeition and beyond."
Prior to coming to College Hill, Rizzo founded the Beeston Flyerz Hockey League in Nottingham, U.K. in August of 2020. She launched the Flyerz disability hockey training program at the Beeston Hockey Club, the first of its kind in the East Midlands region of the U.K. Rizzo planned sessions and coached youth players with Down Syndrome, Autism and other developmental disabilities.
Rizzo's undergraduate degree is in Biobehavioral Health with a minor in Global Health Studies from Penn State. In September of 2020, she earned her masters in Public Health from Nottingham Trent.
