BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Freshman attacker
Charlie Cunniffe of the Lafayette men's lacrosse team was named the Patriot League Rookie of the Week, the league office announced on Monday afternoon.
Cunniffe was outstanding in his collegiate debut up front for the Maroon and White. He tallied three goals and three assists to lead the Leopards with six points in a tight 13-12 loss to VMI.
"Charlie has been working hard every day on and off campus since Augusts and is extremely coachable," head coach
Patrick Myers said. "I am not surprised to see his unseen hours pay off on gameday."
Cunniffe, a Newtown Square, Pa. native, scored more than 100 points in his four-year career at Episcopal Academy at attack and in the midfield. He was All-State, All-Section and All-Town for Delaware County.
The Leopards return to action on Wednesday, traveling to Fairfield for a 4 p.m. matchup with the Stags.
