Leopards Wrap up Regular Season Action against Bison

Lafayette and Bucknell are set for a four-game weekend series to finish up regular season action

*The Leopards and Bison are set for four games this weekend, with two in Lewisburg on Saturday and two in Easton on Sunday. Saturday's doubleheader is slated for a 12 p.m. first pitch and Sundays is slated for a 12:30 p.m. first pitch. Prior to Sunday's first pitch, the Leopards will be honoring the squads seven seniors, Ethan Stern, Colin Hartey, Michael Dunn, Michael Landry, Hunter Silvernail, Tyler Faccenda and Bill Russo, for their hardwork and dedication to the program over the last four years. 

*Lafayette enters the final regular season weekend series with an 11-14 overall record and a 10-12 record in Patriot League action. They split their last series on April 23-24 with Army, winning 14-13 in Easton on Friday off a walk-off home run by senior Ethan Stern and then secured a 4-2 victory in game one on Saturday in West Point. 

*Freshman Justin Grech leads the way for the Maroon and White, batting .131 and leading the team in runs scored (24), hits (25) and triples (2). Sophomore Pete Ciuffreda leads the team in RBIs (23) and total bases (37) while Stern leads the team in doubles (8), and junior Dylan Minghini and freshman Blaze Fadio are tied in home runs (3). On the mound, freshman Luke Benneche leads the way in ERA (4.79), sophomore Jordan Yoder and junior Jake Bloss are tied in wins (3), sophomore Nolan Morr leads the team in saves (4), and Yoder leads in innings pitched (32.1) and strike outs (36). 

*In the national rankings as a team, the Leopards are 90th in stolen bases (43) and 20th in stolen bases per game (1.72). Individually, Grech is 26th in RBIs per game (1.14), Stern is tied for 41st in stolen bases per game (0.48) and junior Justin Johnson is 42nd in stolen bases per game (0.48). 

*In the Patriot League, the Leopards are second in stolen bases (43) and first in stolen bases per game (1.72). Individually, Stern is third in the league in base on balls per game (0.76), third in on base percentage (0.463), tied for first in stolen bases (12) and first in stolen bases per game (0.48). Grech is first in runs per game (1.14), Johnson is second in stolen bases per game (0.48), Grech is third in stolen bases per game (0.38) and Ciuffreda is fourth in stolen bases per game (0.36). 

*Bucknell heads into the weekend series with a 10-20 overall record and a 10-13 record in Patriot League action. The Bison are coming off a 4-5 loss to Saint Joseph's on Wednesday. 

*The Bison are led by junior Chris Cannizarro who holds a team-high .345 batting average and leads the team in runs scored (25), hits (39), RBIs (19), doubles (10), triples (4) and total bases (63). Sophomore Henry Novicki leads the Bison in home runs (3). On the mound, junior Luke Allain leads the way on the mound with a 2.70 ERA, sophomore Chris DiFiore leads in wins (4), junior Andrew Funovitis leads in saves (2), sophomore Will Greer leads in innings pitched (52.2) and DiFiore and senior Brenden Tuttle are tied in strike outs (36). 

*The Leopards lead the all-time series with the Bison, 118-77-1, with the series dating back to 1895. The two squads last met on April 27, 2019, splitting two games in Lewisburg to finish out the regular season.   

*Heading into the final weekend of regular season play the race for the final two spots in the Patriot League Tournament have heated up. Army and Lehigh have both clinched a spot in the tournament, leading their respective divisions. The Leopards currently stand in the third spot while Navy holds the fourth. Bucknell and Holy Cross round out the standings with Bucknell just a half game behind the Leopards.
