Lafayette Football Releases 2021 Fall Slate

Air Force, William and Mary, New Hampshire, Penn and Harvard highlight non-league ledger in 140th season

EASTON, Pa. – Lafayette football's 2021 fall schedule will include a first-ever trip to Air Force, along with non-league matchups vs. William and Mary, New Hampshire, Penn and Harvard.

Season ticket packages, which include the 157th installment of the Lafayette-Lehigh rivalry, are now on sale and will be available until the day of the home opener (9/18). To purchase parking passes for individual games, fans must add their name to the reservation list and the office staff will call when available.

The Leopards are slated to open the 2021 campaign on Sept. 4 in Colorado Springs, Colo. at the U.S. Air Force Academy. It is the first FBS matchup for Lafayette since 2018 when Lafayette traveled to Army in week 10 and the first time the two programs will meet on the football field.

Week two keeps the Leopards on the road in Williamsburg, Va. against CAA foe William and Mary. The teams last met on the last day of August in 2019 in Virginia. That game is slated for a 6 p.m. kick off.

The Maroon and White open the 95th season in the history of Fisher Stadium, hosting another CAA foe, New Hampshire, at 12:30 p.m. on Sept. 18. The teams renewed acquaintances at the end of the 2013 in the first round of the FCS playoffs following the Leopards' Patriot League championship.

Penn closes out the opening month on College Hill with a Family Weekend tilt on Sept. 25 at 3:30 p.m. The teams meet for the 92nd time in series history, dating back to the Leopards' first season in 1882.

Lafayette's four-game homestand continues in October when Patriot League play kicks into full swing. A Homecoming Weekend matchup vs. Fordham is slated for 3:30 p.m. on Oct. 2. The teams did not play each other in the spring 2021 season, but Lafayette has captured wins in the last three outings.

Bucknell dealt Lafayette its only loss in the spring to snap a two-game series slide vs. the Leopards. They square off for the 98th time on Oct. 9. Lafayette closes out the non-league portion of its ledger, traveling to Harvard in week seven, the last game before Lafayette undertakes a bye week (Oct. 23).

The final four weeks of the season put Lafayette into the thick of Patriot League play, starting with an Oct. 30 journey to face Georgetown which chose not to participate in the Spring 2021 Patriot League season.

The month of November opens with the Leopards playing at Holy Cross. Lafayette won the last meeting (in 2019) with the Crusaders who have won the last two Patriot League titles. Lafayette was not scheduled to play Holy Cross in the spring.

The last two weeks of the season bring Colgate to Fisher Stadium and take the Leopards across the valley to Lehigh. Lafayette secured a 24-10 win over the Raiders to open the 2021 spring season. Colgate will have a new head coach Stan Dakosty for the 12:30 game on Nov. 13.

Week 11 marks the 157th meeting of College Football's Most-Played Rivalry when the Maroon and White face the Brown and White at Lehigh's Goodman Stadium. The Leopards have won the last two meetings by a combined eight points. The teams will play twice during the calendar year for the first time since 1944 when World World II significantly shaped that schedule.

Lafayette finished the spring 2021 season with a 2-1 record. The Leopards defense will welcome back all 15 players who started a game in the spring 2021 season, including five who achieved All-Patriot League status. On offense, 10 players who started at least one game, return, including four-fifths of the offensive line. Three of those returners were All-Patriot League First-Team selections in 2021.
