Field Hockey Duo Earns Patriot League Weekly Laurels

Hefting and Fragomeni record an impressive defensive weekend

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lafayette field hockey's senior defender Simone Hefting and freshman goalkeeper Raffi Fragomeni each earned a Patriot League weekly award, the league office announced on Monday afternoon.

Hefting was selected as the Defender of the Week after anchoring the Maroon and White's defensive unit while playing center back. Boston University was held to a measly two shots on goal (nine total over 60 minutes of play). Yale was able to put more pressure on the Leopards with 19 total shots, however, only eight made it to the cage.

The Den Bosch, Netherlands native currently tallies two goals for four points against No. 7 Princeton and Richmond. On the defensive end, Hefting has a career-high four defensive saves in 2022 thus far.

Fragomeni was as selected as the Goalkeeper of the Week after a shutout performance against the Terriers, handing them their first League loss of the season, and a close game against Yale.

The first-year student-athlete recorded two saves against Boston U. and six versus the Bulldogs. The Mountain Lakes, N.J. native currently holds a .676 SV% on 46 total saves and a 1.80 GA/AVG this season.

Sophomore midfielder Lineke Spaans was listed as an honorable mention for her efforts this weekend, scoring a reverse chip in the victory against Boston U.

The Leopards will travel to Colgate on Oct. 22.
