Women's Basketball Hosts St. Francis Brooklyn

Lafayette vs. St. Francis game notes

THE OPENING TIP
*    The Leopards host St. Francis Brooklyn on Wednesday afternoon at Kirby Sports Center.

*    In the last meeting on Dec. 4, 2015, Lafayette defeated the Terriers 77-59. The Leopards hold the 8-3 advantage in the series which dates back to 1981.

*    Due to health and safety precautions, Lafayette's game against Notre Dame on Dec. 8 was postponed. No make-up game has been determined.

*    In the Leopards' last game on Dec. 3, Columbia topped Lafayette, 91-43, at Levien Gymnasium. Junior Makayla Andrews led the Leopards with 11 points, while sophomore Halee Smith added 10 with three three-pointers and a free throw.

*    Following a break for finals and the postponement of Notre Dame, this is the Leopards' first game in 18 days.

*    Lafayette will open up Patriot League play on Dec. 30 at American, followed by a trip to West Point to take on Army to open up 2023. 

SCOUTING ST. FRANCIS
    The Terriers are 1-10 on the season. They lost against NJIT (56-49), UMBC (64-59) and Boston U. (72-61) (99-76) and Vanderbilt (74-63). St. Francis finished 17-10 last season.
    Alyssa Fisher is the leading scorer, averaging 13.5 ppg, 3.9 rpg and 2.1 apg. Sarah Bandoma is the leading rebounder, averaging 5.7 rpg and 4.9 ppg. Ella Ogier leads the Terriers in assists, averaging 2.3 apg, 7.2 ppg and 5.1 rpg.

LAST TIME OUT
     Columbia topped Lafayette, 91-43, on Dec. 10 at Levien Gymnasium. Junior Makayla Andrews led the Leopards with 11 points, while sophomore Halee Smith added 10 with three three-pointers and a free throw.

AN EARLY "WINTER BREAK"
    Wednesday's game marks Lafayette's first contest in 18 days. The Leopards already had a scheduled break from games for finals, but the postponement of Notre Dame extended the scheduled break.
    
A BALANCED SCORING EFFORT
    The Leopards had a hot shooting night against UMBC, shooting a season-high 51.7 percent from the floor.
    Every player that checked into the game recorded a basket for the Leopards, with a season-high five players in double figures (Makayla Andrews 15, Abby Antognoli 15, Kylie Favours 11, Jess Booth 11, Kayla Drummond 10).
    Freshman Kay Donahue netted her first career three-pointer for the Maroon and White, while Favours scored a career-high 11 points with nine from beyond the arc.
    Andrews has scored in double figures in seven out of nine games, averaging 13.0 ppg. The guard had a season-high 20 point performance at NJIT, and is the Leopards' leading rebounder with 7.9 rpg.
    Antognoli put on a season-high 19 point performance against La Salle on Nov. 22. The Bay Head, N.J. native has found her groove, posting five-straight double figure performances. The 5-7 guard also leads the Leopards in minutes per game with 35.0.

SCHOOL DAY GAME
    The Leopards will be hosting a School Day Game on Jan. 18 vs. American. Lafayette College will welcome sixth and seventh graders from the Easton School District.

NATIONAL GIRLS AND WOMEN IN SPORTS DAY GAME
    Lafayette College will be celebrating National Girls and Women in Sports Day on Jan. 28 with a clinic hosted by the Leopards' female sports teams. The clinic  will run from 11 a.m . - 1 p.m. and is free for girls in grades 3-7. Stay for pizza and the women's basketball game at 2 p.m. to celebrate NGWSD. There will be post-game autographs following the game!
