EASTON, Pa. - Coming off a Patriot League championship, Lafayette football head coach
John Troxell '94 and his staff have secured the commitments of
11 student-athletes on early signing day.
Â
The incoming recruiting class, which is expected to grow on National Signing Day on Feb. 7, has added six defensive players and five offensive players as part of the Class of 2028.
Â
Lafayette brought in two linebackers, two defensive linemen and two defensive backs to go along with three offensive linemen, a wide receiver, and a quarterback in the 12
th scholarship recruiting class in the Patriot League era.
Â
The recruiting class is one of the most geographically diverse in school history as two countries (Canada, United States) and nine U.S. states and territories are represented. The Keystone State was the only of the nine to yield more than one signee in the early signing period, as two Lehigh Valley products joined the Leopards from Nazareth Area High School.
"Today is an exciting day because we welcome an extremely talented group of student-athletes and their families to our program," said Troxell, the Fred M. Kirby II '42 Head Football Coach. "Recruiting is the most important part of having sustained success in college football. Our staff did a great job of finding student-athletes who are a fit for Lafayette and our program. We have set a standard within our program and this recruiting class will help us build upon that foundation."
The Lafayette football program will kick off its spring season on March 18, culminating with the Maroon and White spring showcase at 3 p.m. on April 20 at Fisher Stadium.
