The Matchup
The Leopards travel to Davidson, N.C. to take on the Wildcats of Davidson College. Davidson is coming off of a 43-13 season in 2022. In their last encounter, the Wildcats took all three meetings between the two squads. Davidson holds the advantage in the all-time series which started in 1989 winning 18 of 26 meetings.
A Familiar Face
A.J. Miller '11 has returned to College Hill as the Leopards' skipper in 2023. Miller who is a 2011 Lafayette graduate was the 2011 Patriot League Player of the Year, a All-Patriot League First-Team selection and tied the Lafayette program record for home runs with 22. Miller was a Charles L. Albert '08 award recipient and received the Paul E. Koch '28 award during his time in Easton. After leaving College Hill, Miller went on to play professional baseball for the Normal Cornbelters of the Frontier League and the Lincoln Saltdogs of the American Association of Independent Professional Baseball. He spent the previous seven years on the baseball staff at Lehigh University, holding titles of assistant coach, recruiting coordinator and associate head coach during his tenure.
The Leopards
This week the Leopards took home two Patriot League weekly honors. Junior
Blaze Fadio was named Patriot League Baseball Player of the Week. He batted .357 (5-for-14) with a home run, two doubles and two walks. The junior slugged .714 and recorded a .438 on-base percentage for the week. Freshman
Ethan Swidler was named Patriot League Baseball Rookie of the Week. Swidler batted .500 (3-for-6) during the Leopards' series at Southeastern Louisiana. He hit his first collegiate home run, had an RBI, scored a run and was hit by a pitch. The freshman slugged 1.000 and recorded a .571 on-base percentage for the week. Also swinging a hot bat is
Easton Brenner. Â The sophomore hit .444 at Southeastern Louisiana with four hits, and also drew a team-leading three walks. Freshman
Pat Walega will take the mound for the Leopards on Friday. Walega made his first collegiate appearance on Saturday at Southeastern Louisiana pitching 3.1 innings out of the bullpen and striking out one.

The Opponent
The Wildcats were 43-13 last year and have started the season this year 2-2, dropping two of three to NJIT in the season-opening weekend, before defeating North Carolina A&T in their last game 15-1. No bat has been hotter in Davidson's lineup than junior Ryan Wilson, the 2022 All-Atlantic 10 Second-Team selection, who has batted .545 this year with two home runs and nine RBIs. Another player to watch for the Wildcats is junior Tyler Douglas, who is batting .375 and has recorded six hits, three RBIs and scored seven runs. On the mound, senior Will Schomberg anchors Davidson's rotation. In 2022, Schomberg exclusively came out of the bullpen, posting a 4-2 record in 21 appearances, with a 4.42 ERA in 55 innings pitched, while striking out 59. This season Schomberg has become a part of the Wildcats' starting rotation, taking the mound in their season opener against NJIT, when he pitched five innings, struck out six and collected the win, his first start since 2021. Schomberg will begin the series on the mound, starting for Davidson on Friday.
