FARMINGDALE, N.Y. - The Lafayette golf team finished eighth at the Doc Gimmler Invitational hosted by St. John's at Bethpage Golf State Park Red Course on Saturday and Sunday. The Leopards finished three-over-par for the weekend in the 15-team field.
Sophomore Harry Dessel finished tied for third, after carding rounds of 68, 67 and 69 for a total score of 204 at the par-70 course.
Junior Sean Saw tied for 30th (68-70-74) and sophomore Boyoung Chang tied for 44th (74-68-73). Freshman Winston Kelenc-Blank placed t-47 in his first tournament with the Maroon and White, shooting a 216 (68-71-77), followed by sophomore Valdemar Kofod-Olsen in 58th (77-73-68), and freshman Hudson Pace in 62nd (70-72-77).
Columbia won the team title, shooting a score of 811, led by Nathan Han's 14-under par 196 for medalist honors. The Leopards managed a team score of 843 for their eighth-place finish.
Lafayette's next match is set for Sept. 15 at the Temple Fall Invitational.
