Former Leopard Baseball Coach Joe Hindelang Passes Away

Temple graduate led Lafayette to 1990 NCAA Regional appearance

EASTON, Pa. – Former Lafayette baseball coach Joe Hindelang passed away on Feb 17, 2024. Hindelang spent eight seasons on College Hill (1983-90), guiding the program to an NCAA Regional appearance in 1990.
 
Hindelang, who finished with a career coaching record of 610-555-4, coached for five seasons at the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Sciences (1978-82) before his arrival in Easton. In 1991, he moved on to Penn State where he amassed a school-record 389 wins from 1991-2004.
 
A 1967 Temple graduate, Hindelang earned three letters in baseball and two years in basketball. He was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in 1966 and the New York Yankees in 1967 as a pitcher, playing minor league baseball for two seasons before a shoulder injury ended his professional career.
 
For his playing and coaching accomplishments, Hindelang was inducted into the Lincoln High School Hall of Fame and the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame.
