Lafayette Swimming and Diving Announces Early-Decision Signing Class of 2028

10 women and four men will join the Leopards

EASTON, Pa. – Head coach Jim Dailey and the Lafayette swimming and diving teams are excited to announce the early signing of 10 women and four men for the class of 2028.

The newly committed Leopards bring a diverse background with them, coming from Missouri, Nevada, Delaware, New Jersey, New York, Virginia, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Connecticut, and Madrid, Spain. Their swimming experiences include high school, club and YMCA teams.

"We were very lucky in that we have been able to cover many of the events that will be left less deep after the class of 2024 graduates, and even some when the class of 2025 graduates," Dailey said. "All of them will enrich a team that has been very successful over the last two years. We have broken 26 school records, placed 152 new performances into our all-time Top 10 lists, been recognized by the NCAA for graduation rates within the top 10 percent and recognized by the College Swimming Coaches Athletic Association as an All-Academic team for 62 of the last 63 semesters."

Dailey will look to the class of 2028 to challenge the team's current swimmers and divers while continuing the tradition of academic and athletic excellence within the program.

For the women's team, Sara Fente Damers (Madrid, Spain), Sarah Green (King George, Va.), Everdine Ferguson (St. Louis, Mo.), Brooke Serlin (Easton, Conn.) and Izzy Johnson (Coopersburg, Pa.) will compete in the sprint and middle distance events. Several of their times are already in the Lafayette top times lists. First year breaststrokers Emma Rae Scheidler (Henderson, Nev.), Meghan Robinson (Bernardsville, N.J.), Izzy Yoo (Leonia, N.J.) and Jillian Basile (Ocean, N.J.) will improve the team's talent in the 100- and 200-yard breaststroke and IM events. Backstrokers Victoria Phillips (Wilmington, Del.) as well as Fente and Green will challenge the team's top swimmers in the backstroke events, while Ferguson and Johnson will also see time in the butterfly events.

"This is one of the top classes we've been able to sign," Dailey said. "Their competitiveness and desire to get faster will add strength and depth to an already highly- motivated and competitive existing roster."

For the men's team, what the class lacks in numbers, it makes up for in talent. Eric Engel (Mt. Kisco, N.Y.) will swim sprint and middle distance freestyle events and see time in the IM events. Brendan Morgan (Mt. Kisco, N.Y.) will swim in the middle distance freestyle and fly events. Scott Lloyd (Chapel Hill, N.C.) will compete in the backstroke, butterfly and IM events. Owen Lever (Doylestown, Pa.) will swim the freestyle events from sprint to distance and spend some time in the IM as well next year.

"All four men have been posting times that are within the school all-time top time lists," Dailey said. "They will all make an immediate impact on the program."
