EASTON, Pa. – Sophie Freiling has joined the Lafayette football staff as the director of football operations. 

Freiling is coming off a two-year stint as a football recruiting and operations intern at Vanderbilt University in the Southeastern Conference (SEC) where she was integrally involved in everything from travel to recruiting to analytics and scouting.  

"Sophie can work in a fast paced environment and will excel helping with so many facets of our program. She worked in the football office at Vanderbilt and she brings a lot of knowledge and experience that she gained from working with a SEC program," said John Troxell, the Fred M. Kirby II '42 Head Football Coach. "We are so excited for her to join our team and help us build a championship program."

The Williamsburg, Va. native will be responsible for Lafayette football's day-to-day logistics including team travel, team budget, student-athlete recruitment and a variety of administrative tasks. 

A former competitive swimmer, golfer and gymnast, Freiling graduated magna cum laude from Vanderbilt in 2023, earning a bachelor of arts degree in political science and medicine, health and society.
