FARMINGDALE, N.Y. - After playing rounds one and two yesterday at Bethpage State Park Red Course, the Lafayette men's golf team took on the historic Black Course to play the final round of the Doc Gimmler Invitational, hosted by St. John's University.
Senior
Quint Dingledine paved the way for the Leopards, leaping 22 spots to end the event tied for seventh place. Dingledine was four-over-par for the Invitational, after carding 72-71-71 over three rounds.Â
The Maroon and White finished 11th in the 12-team event.
After two rounds, the Leopards sat at 18-over-par, with a team score of 578. The par-70, 7,468-yard course was unforgiving on day two, leaving Lafayette to finish 28-over-par. For the tournament, the Leopards shot a team score of 890.
Junior
Harry Dessel also saw a jump on the individual leaderboard after finishing six-over-par on day two. Dessel tied for 20th after sitting at eight-over-par after 54 holes of golf.
Sophomore
Hudson Pace landed just outside of the top 50, ending up 52nd in the 69-player field. Pace finished with an individual score of 228 after carding 75-72-81. Senior
Sean Saw and freshman
Harrison Browne ended the tournament tied for 60th and 67th, respectively. Saw was 20-over par, while Browne finished 25-over-par after three rounds.
Lond Island University took home bragging rights for the event, jumping two spots and ending 15-over-par with a team score of 859. Individually, St. John's Peicheng Chen was the top golfer, carding 65-69-72 and finishing five-under-par.
Lafayette will travel to Annapolis, Md., to participate in the Navy Invitational, a three-day event at the Naval Academy Golf Club.
