EASTON, Pa. -- DaRon Gilbert '23 has signed a futures contract with the Detroit Lions, it was announced on Monday night.
Gilbert, a Detroit native, was a two-time All-Patriot League selection (2021 and 2022) who played in 33 games at safety for the Leopards from 2019-22. He rounded out his collegiate career by spending a graduate year at Northern Illinois where he made the move to linebacker and started 13 games.
In 2024, Gilbert participated in the Lions' rookie minicamp and the organization's training camp. He played in the team's preseason opener, but suffered an injury before the second preseason game when he was waived by the team. Gilbert then re-signed with Lions' practice squad on on Dec. 26, before inking the futures contract with the NFC North champs.
