EASTON, Pa. - Alex Schmidt has been named the Assistant Director for Compliance at Lafayette College. 

In this role, Schmidt will work alongside Michael Chamberlain, the senior associate athletic director for compliance and student-athlete development, to ensure adherence to NCAA, Patriot League, and institutional rules. He will also support coaches, staff, and student-athletes through compliance education and oversight. 

"We are incredibly excited to have Alex join our team. His background and experiences as a Division I student-athlete at Dartmouth College and as a graduate assistant at New England College will prove to be a major asset for our office," Chamberlain said. "We look forward to his contributions to our department and specifically his ability to learn and work with our coaches and student-athletes on a daily basis."

Schmidt comes to Lafayette from New England College, where he served as director of football operations as well as the defensive line coach. Early in his career, he had helped structure and launch New England College's football program into the NCAA. Overseeing key aspects of compliance, student-athlete recruitment, operations, and eligibility tracking. 

A native of Perkasie, Pa., Schmidt earned his B.A. from Dartmouth College in 2022, where he won two Ivy League football titles as a defensive lineman and was selected to the National Football Foundation (NFF) Hampshire Honor Society in 2023. While at New England College, he attained his Master's of Business Administration with a focus in Sports and Recreation Management in 2025.
