EASTON, Pa. – The Lafayette football team moved up one spot to No. 24 in the AFCA FCS Coaches Poll, announced Monday morning. The Leopards, who debuted in the poll last week, also continue to receive votes (72) in the Stats Perform FCS Top 25 Poll.
Lafayette is coming off a 35-28 win at Richmond on Saturday when junior RB Kente Edwards ran for a career-best 265 yards and two touchdowns to help Lafayette improve to 6-0 in Patriot League play for the first time in school history.Â
The Maroon and White have been ranked in each of the last three seasons under head coach John Troxell. In 2024, Lafayette ascended to No. 14 in the Coaches Poll and 18 in the Stats Perform Poll following week three. In 2023, the Leopards topped out at No. 16, finishing the season 19th in the AFCA FCS Coaches Poll and 21st in the Stats Perform Poll, following a Patriot League title and NCAA Playoff appearance.
This season, Lafayette is 8-3 overall with only one loss to an FCS opponent. Winners of three straight, the Leopards will host undefeated No. 4 Lehigh on Saturday at Fisher Stadium. The 161st Rivalry meeting will determine the Patriot League championship and the accompanying NCAA FCS Playoff automatic berth.Â
