MADISON, N.J. - The Lafayette fencing team continued its season on Saturday, traveling to Drew for the MACFA A Round-Robin.
The Lafayette men fenced matches against against Cornell and Drew. The Maroon and White completed the event 2-0, defeating Cornell 16-11 and Drew 16-11.
The men were led by three Leopards who went 5-1: senior foil
Benito Hergert, senior foil
Amir Whitehead and freshman sabre
Nikita Kogan. A trio of Leopards won four bouts: freshman sabre
Jordan Ginsberg, senior foil
Chris Davis and freshman epee
Ryan Leibowitz. Sophomore sabre
Sam Gilpin earned three victories, while senior epee
Antoine Mannes and junior epee
Tyler Morse recorded one win each.
As a team, Lafayette won 32 of 52 bouts. The foil squad went 14-4 and the sabre squad had a 12-6 mark, while the epee squad had a 6-12 record.
The Lafayette fencing team returns to action when it competes in the LIU Invitational on Sunday.
