PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Nine Leopards, including one individual thrower and two relay teams, competed at the annual Penn Relays at the University of Pennsylvania's Franklin Field on Thursday and Friday.
The Penn Relays is one of the premier track and field events in the country, comprised of high school and college track and field athletes who qualified to compete the last Saturday in April and the two days preceding.
On Thursday, senior Erin O'Leary was a finalist in the women's hammer throw. O'Leary threw 176', earning ninth place for the Leopards.
Both 4x400-meter relays took place on Friday evening. The men's 4x400 consisted of juniors Roman Conca and J.P. Pfisterer and sophomores Alexander Caba and Christian Wright. The group finished in 3:14.87, securing No. 5 all-time at Lafayette, and capturing the victory out of 18 total relay teams.
For the women, sophomore Gabby Buber, juniors Alexa LaSasso and Maeve Waldron and senior Nava Chevan collected No. 7 all-time with a final time of 3:50.84. The team took home third place out of 17 relays.
The Leopards also competed in day one of the Lehigh's Covert Classic on Friday and will continue competition on Saturday at 10 a.m.
