Track and Field Kicks Off Outdoor Season With Six All-Time Performances

Hill and Severino claim first-place finishes

HIGH POINT, N.C. – Lafayette competed at the Bob Davidson Team Challenge hosted by High Point University on Friday and Saturday to start off the outdoor track and field season. The Leopard men finished seventh while the women earned a 10th-place finish.

In the field events for the men, senior Bobby McClosky secured No. 8 all-time at Lafayette in the javelin with a 205' 2" final throw. McClosky's performance earned him third overall. Sophomore Javin Petry claimed No. 9 all-time in the hammer throw, throwing 181' 4" for fourth place. Junior Ivan Tejada sits at No. 10 all-time in the shot put with a 50' 8.75" put, finishing seventh. Tejada also placed ninth in the hammer throw (170' 11").

Senior Benjamin Hill captured the win in the pole vault with a final vault of 15' 1.5". Junior Elliott Godin collected fifth in the pole vault (13' 7.75"). Senior Liam Sawian finished 10th in the long jump, leaping 20' 9.75".

On the track, sophomore Kaseme Leckie earned No. 10 all-time in the 100 meters with a final time of 10.74 to finish eighth. In the 200 meters, Leckie took home fifth, crossing the finish line at 21.67. Senior Roman Conca garnered 10th in the 200 meters (21.96) and 400 meters (49.27).

Junior John Liedtka enjoyed a fourth-place finish in the 110-meter hurdles (14.64) and a sixth-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles (55.41). Classmate Dexter DeMarco secured eighth in the 400-meter hurdles (55.95) followed by senior Zachary Barban in ninth (55.99) and freshman Justice Larkin in 10th (57.95).

On the women's side, senior Ava Severino garnered the victory in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a final time of 11:11.61. Freshman Hazel Calway achieved No. 9 all-time in the 3000-meter steeple with a time of 11:20.35, earning second overall. Sophomore Alivia Bear reeled in fourth in the event, crossing the finish line at 12:19.88.

In the women's field events, junior Maddie Still reached No. 8 all-time in the javelin with a final throw of 136' 6". Still's performance earned her eighth. Classmate Marin Rosser threw 124' 9" in the javelin for ninth place.

Junior Bridget O'Mara took home fifth in the pole vault, vaulting 10' 11.75" while senior Isabella Allen placed eighth (9' 6.25"). Freshman Sophia Agner collected 10th in the high jump, reaching 5' 1".

The Maroon and White will host the Leopard Invitational at Metzgar Fields Athletic Complex on on Mar. 28 at 10:30 a.m.
