EASTON, Pa. - The Leopards wrapped up the 2025 spring football season on a rainy Saturday afternoon at Fisher Stadium. The Maroon-White Spring Showcase offered fans of the Maroon and White an opportunity to see how the team looks before the start of the 2025 campaign.
The showcase was separated into 10 practice periods, allowing for a combination of instructional drills and live scrimmages. After warm-ups and positional coaching, Lafayette ran live plays, giving the team a chance to evaluate its roster as it heads towards the end of the semester.
Both program veterans and newcomers stood out during the 90-minute practice season. Junior WR
Benjamin Bussiere hauled in a number of passes from Leopard quarterbacks, including a pair of catches on third down to keep the offense moving in the right direction. Bussiere's highlight play of the afternoon came on a 15-yard touchdown reception from junior QB
Daniel Lipovski. Also standing out was sophomore
Jakyre Henley, who made the switch to running back in the offseason. On 2nd-and-10, Henley bounced a run outside, turning a a potential one-yard loss into an eight-yard gain.
Defensively, freshman DB
Christian Watson made his presence known, picking off QB
Jason Penza in the end zone on a pass intended for Bussiere. On the ensuing drive for the offense, junior
Alie Kamara and sophomore
Olivier Camerlain again applied pressure and forced an interception on 3rd-and-10 to sophomore DB
Dhonte Jackson who returned it 25 yards.
Next up for the Leopards is the summer practice season, before the team reports for training camp on July 29. Lafayette begins the 2025 season on Aug. 28 at Bowling Green, the first of three-straight road games before returning home to Fisher Stadium.
