EASTON, Pa. - Lafayette concluded the 22nd annual Abarta Coca-Cola Collegiate Invitational on Monday, placing eighth and 15th in the 16-team field.
Winston Kelenc-Blank,
Travis Robertson and
Reed Theiss all finished within the top 30 after the final round at the par-72, 6,675-yard Northampton Country Club.
Kelenc-Blank and Robertson led the way for the Lafayette Maroon team. Kelenc-Blank used four birdies on the day to rise 32 spots to t-21 in the 101-participant field. The Rumson, N.J. native shot two-under-par in the second round and four-over-par overall. With three birdies in four holes, Robertson concluded the invitational t-28 after he carded an even-par 72 for the afternoon and 150 for the event. Joining Kelenc-Blank and Robertson on the Maroon team were seniors
Sean Saw and
Quint Dingledine and junior
Harry Dessel. Saw (151) and Dingledine (152) both ended the invitational t-36 and t-43, respectively. Dessel shot 14-over-par to land t-72. The Maroon team rose seven spots on the final day of the tournament to eighth after the team carded a 601.
The Lafayette White team consisted of Theiss,
Michael DiNapoli,
Michael Bell,
Hudson Pace and
Harrison Browne. Theiss carded 75 in both rounds of the invitational and joined Robertson at t-28. DiNapoli landed t-36 with Saw after he shot seven-over-par. Bell carded a 159, resting him in t-77. Pace (160) and Browne (162) ended t-81 and t-86, respectively. After it shot 44-over-par, the White team concluded the invitational in 15th.
The Abarta Coca-Cola Collegiate Invitational's team title was captured by Sacred Heart after the Pioneers shot four-over-par, including one-under-par on the final day of the event. Merrimack's Kai-Jun Huang and Millersville's Tim Peters tied for first after they carded a 140. A play-off between the two leaders ended with Huang capturing the award for best individual golfer.
Lafayette's next time on the course will be on Apil 14-15 at The Shark Invitational, hosted by Long Island.
