Sejour Brings NFL Experience to Leopards’ Secondary

Lafayette cornerbacks coach participated in Bill Walsh Diversity Fellowship with the Washington Commanders

EASTON, Pa. - This summer, one of Lafayette rising football minds was selected to participate as part of the Bill Walsh Diversity Fellowship program. Cornerbacks coach Jeff Sejour earned the opportunity to work alongside the Washington Commanders as an NFL special teams intern. Sejour joins Andrew Seumalo and Anthony Johnson as current Leopard coaches who've had participated in the fellowship, with Seumalo's and Johnson's experience also coming with Commanders in 2024.

Established by the NFL to promote diversity and inclusion within the NFL coaching staffs and named after legendary San Francisco 49ers head coach Bill Walsh, the fellowship provides opportunities for coaches of diverse backgrounds to gain experience and exposure in the NFL.

During his time with the Commanders, Sejour worked closely with the special teams unit, gaining invaluable insight into game-day operations, player development and elite-level preparation. His time at the professional level now directly informs his work with Lafayette's secondary, where he continues to elevate the performance and discipline of the Lafayette cornerbacks.

"I learned the value of culture and how it impacts every facet of your program," Sejour said. "You could feel what coach Quinn has built with the Commanders the minute you walk through the sliding doors."

Blending NFL-level experience with a passion for collegiate coaching, the 2006 Lafayette alum brings a sharp eye, energy and a detailed-oriented mindset to the Leopard program. Sejour's time with Washington offered the ability to observe and interact with NFL coaches, in addition to taking the lead on presentations and having a hands-on approach during coaching periods.

"I cannot wait to reorganize how I teach and present information to my players. I have grown to appreciate the value of making connections on a fundamental level. I am learning how much I can continue to grow and learn as a coach every season I am lucky to be out on that grass."
