EASTON, Pa. – Freshman Trevor Olson and senior Isabella Van Ess earned Patriot League weekly honors after their performances at the Navy Invite on Saturday.
Olson took home Patriot League Swimmer of the Week and Rookie of the Week. The Lancaster, Pa. native finished second in both the 200-yard and 500-yard freestyles with times of 1:39.82 and 4:29.47.
In both events, the rookie moved to No. 2 all-time in Lafayette's All-Time Top 10. Olson is the first Leopard to be named Men's Swimmer of the Week since Jonathan Jenkins in 2007.
Van Ess collected Patriot League Swimmer of the Week laurels. The Ashburn, Va. native won the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:18.14. Her time in the 200 breast tied her own Lafayette school record from last season.
The neuroscience major placed third in the 100 breast, finishing in 1:04.94, just off her school record. Van Ess is only the second Leopard in program history to be named Women's Swimmer of the Week, the first since Liz Helwig in 2004.
