Nov. 18, 2016 EASTON, Pa. - Seniors Katelyn Arnold of the Lafayette field hockey team and Trevor Houck of Lafayette baseball, were named the Maroon Club Scholar-Athletes of the Year on Friday night at the Maroon Club Hall of Fame dinner.
To be eligible for the award, select student-athletes must be nominated by their coaches who, along with athletic administrators, vote for the male and female winners.
Arnold was a defensive stalwart for the Leopards, protecting the cage. The senior co-captain ended her career this fall with 18 career wins and 204 saves. As a junior, she was named Second-Team All-Patriot League and this year was named to the Victory Sports/NFHCA Senior Game.
In the classroom, Arnold holds a 3.94 GPA as a Government & Law and Economics major. She has been named to the Academic All-Patriot League in each of the past two years and was tabbed a NFHCA Scholar of Distinction from her freshman to junior year. Additionally, the Coopersburg, Pa. native was named to the 2015 NFHCA Academic Team.
Houck has been a solid piece for the Leopards' pitching staff both as a starter and a reliever throughout his three years with the team. For his career he has made 17 starts and 30 appearances while fanning 60 batters. As a Chemical Engineering major, Hock has a 3.8 GPA.
