Lafayette College junior Bob Osipower (Quakertown, PA/Bethlehem Catholic) was named First-Team All-Patriot League for baseball following a poll of league coaches.

Osipower was a steady offensive presence for the Leopards this season. While his .338 batting average may have placed him fourth on the team in hitting, his clutch performances made him the team's top offensive performer. Osipower led the team with 12 home runs, 39 RBIs, 93 total bases and a .684 slugging percentage.

Osipower closed out the season on a tear, going 5-for-6 in the Leopards' finale versus La Salle. He finished the day with eight RBIs which included three home runs and a bases-clearing double. His .338 average placed him ninth in the Patriot League in hitting.

It was Osipower's second straight First-Team selection, as he earned the nod in 1998 when he hit .438 for the Leopards and finished second in the league and 10th in the nation in hitting.

Junior Mike Palos (Bethlehem, PA/Bethlehem Catholic) and freshman Tye Gonser (The Dalles, OR/The Dalles) were named to the All-Patriot League second team at first base and outfield, respectively.

Palos and Gonser battled for the team's hitting lead for much of the season with Palos closing out the season with a .358 average in sixth place in the league. Palos had 21 RBIs and 43 hits while playing in 36 of Lafayette's 40 games. The junior split time at first base and pitcher in the 1999 season for the Leopards.

Gonser smacked a .340 mark (8th in Patriot League) in 1999, ending the Leopards' 8-32 season second on the team in RBIs (23), hits (25) and total bases (61). Gonser was selected as Patriot League Player of the Week for the week ending April 25, when he hit .538 (7-13) and connected for two game-winning hits in a weekend series with Holy Cross.
