Sept. 12, 2000
The Lafayette field hockey team traveled to Lawrenceville, N.J., Tuesday to take on Rider and walked away the victor with a 4-2 win. Lafayette jumped out to a 3-0 lead before the Broncs made a mark on the scoreboard.
Lafayette was led offensively by Megan Monahan (Lansdale, Pa./Lansdale Catholic) who scored her first goal of the game off a Jennifer Stone (Newtown, Pa./George School) pass with 13:51 left in the first half, putting the Leopards up 2-0 before the break. Monahan, who was voted the Patriot League's Offensive Player of the Week for the week ending Sept. 9, scored her second goal of the contest just 13 seconds after Rider closed to within 3-2, scoring the final goal of the game and securing the Leopard victory.
Stone scored a goal of her own, the first of the game, with 15:19 left in the first. The Leopards third goal came at the hands of freshman forward Meredith Hahn (Hellertown, Pa./Saucon Valley).
Both teams registered 13 shots in the non-league matchup but goalie Amy Cohen (Linwood, N.J./Mainland Regional) was able to make 10 saves for the victorious Leopards.
The Leopards next game is at home against West Chester on Sept. 16.
