EASTON, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) - Harvard quarterback Neil Rose threw for three touchdowns and ran for to two more scores to lead Harvard to a 42-19 win at Lafayette on Saturday at Fisher Field.

Lafayette (1-3) scored on its first possession of the game, when starting quarterback Chad Ritchie hit Andrew May for a 34-yard score. The Leopards held the lead late into the first quarter, but Rose took a QB sneak in for the Crimson's first score of the game with 1:22 left in the opening quarter. His 1-yard run capped a seven-play, 59-yard drive and tied the game at 7-7.

Harvard (2-1) kept the momentum in the second quarter. Rose's second 1-yard plunge was the culmination of a lengthy 15-play, 80-yard drive that gobbled up nearly seven minutes. Rose kept the drive going with a 21-yard pass on a fourth-and-one situation. Rose's score came after two Lafayette defensive stops at the 1-yard line. With Anders Blewett's PAT, Harvard went up 14-7.

After Lafayette was forced to punt on its next possession, the Harvard offense kept rolling. Rose hit Chris Stakich for a 38-yard strike to take a 21-7 advantage at the half.

Head Coach Frank Tavani brought freshman QB Marko Glavic on in relief in the third quarter. Glavic responded on his second drive of the quarter, hitting senior wide receiver Phil Yarberough for a 14-yard play. Yarberough finished the game with 11 catches for 175 yards, moving into third place on Lafayette's all-time receiving list with 114 career receptions.

Another Glavic pass, this time to Stewart Kupfer, resulted in Lafayette's first score of the second half, as Kupfer outlegged the Harvard secondary. A mishandled snap resulted in a failed extra-point attempt and Harvard led 21-13 with 8:54 remaining in the third.

The Crimson offense quickly quelled any Lafayette thoughts of a comeback with its next drive. Rose rushed for 33 yards and passed for 35 on the drive. Sophomore tailback Nick Palazzo pounded in Harvard's fourth touchdown with a 1-yard rush at 5:58 to put Harvard up 28-13. Palazzo finished with 23 carries for 105 yards, the first 100+ rushing game of his career.

Harvard tacked on two more scores in the final quarter, as Rose hit Sam Taylor for a 4-yard fade pass at 14:55 and connected with Stakich for a 3-yard scoring throw at 4:45. The second Harvard score of the fourth quarter followed a Lafayette scoring drive that was highlighted by a 35-yard touchdown pass from Glavic to May at 7:36. May finished the day with three receptions for 105 yards and two touchdowns.

Rose ended the game 19-of-35 with 265 yards passing, 73 yards rushing, three touchdown passes and two TD runs. Glavic completed 16-of-29 for 269 yards passing and two touchdown.

Lafayette will return to action at Columbia on Oct. 7, closing a four-game swing against Ivy League foes. Harvard next hosts Cornell on Oct. 7.
